DCoI Textile Exhibition "Thread Story"

The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) will co-ordinate the 6th exhibition of textiles in conjunction with our member organisations (GANS) at The Knitting & Stitching Show, RDS Dublin from the 12th – 15th November 2015 Brief Work submitted to ‘Thread Song' is to be made in response to the life and/or poetry of WB Yeats.

As we now celebrate Irish Design and Yeats2015 we have an opportunity to further development our cultural landscape. Yeats2015 offers a unique opportunity to celebrate Ireland, through the prism of one of its most renowned literary icons.

Selection
 • Pieces must be contemporary in design and can be in any textile media utilising slow and/or fast craft techniques, handcrafted or digital technologies
• Work will be selected on the basis of excellence in design and making, its fit within the overall exhibition and creative interpretation of the brief
• Work must have been made within the last three years and not previously shown in The Knitting & Stitching Show or in any DCCoI exhibitions
• Successful applicants will have their work photographed and exhibited in The Knitting & Stitching Show

This exhibition may travel to other venues both in Ireland and the UK.

Delivery of Submissions
• Enclose your completed application form with the work, along with your €15 administration charge in an envelope with your name and contact information (Please have exact amount if delivering). Please note that application must be also emailed to: innovationadmin@dccoi.ie
• It is preferable that framed work where possible is without glass
• Each package and piece submitted must be clearly labeled outside and inside with name, contact information and hanging instructions where necessary
• Work must be adequately and securely packed in reusable packing/boxes for safe transport and storage. If work is not deemed securely packed, DCCoI reserves the right not to accept the work, and work will be returned at the makers expense

Mid-West Branch "Local Landscapes" Exhibition

To coincide with National Quilting Week, the Mid-West Branch are running an exhibition from 2nd - 6th June. The theme of the exhibit is "Local Landscapes".


Venue: Ormston House, Patrick Street, Limerick
Opening hours: Tues - Sat: 12-6pm. Thurs: 12 - 7pm.

Official Opening Tuesday 2nd June at 7pm

Irish Quilter's Showcase

As part of National Quilting Week, there will be an Irish Quilter's Showcase exhibition taking place.

12 Irish quilters have been invited to make pieces based on the theme of "Wild Atlantic Way".


The show will open on the 22nd of May and run till the 14th of June in the Blasket Centre, Dun Chaoin, Dingle, Co.  Kerry.

EQA Movement Exhibition

EQA "Movement" Exhibition will be taking place in Christ Church, United Presbyterian & Methodist (Central Buildings), 51 O'Connell Street, Limerick.

Western Branch Exhibition "Summer Colours"

The IPS Western Branch will be holding a branch exhibition "Summer Colours" from Friday 5th - Thursday 11th of June in the foyer of the Orbsen Building, NUIG, Galway.

The venue is open daily from 9am to 6pm. Admission free

Hands Across the Border Exhibition

Hands Across the Border 2015 - Reflections
 
A joint exhibition between the
Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild & Irish Patchwork Society

City Hall Belfast

Official opening at 12 noon - Tuesday 5th May. Opening by Valerie Wilson (Textile Curator at Cultra Folk and Transport Museum). 
The exhibition in City Hall runs from the 5th May to 28th May.

The exhibition will be in 2 parts

Part I from 5th May to 15th May. Part I will be half the NIPG quilts and those from IPS Western and Eastern Branches.

Part II from 16th May to 28th May. Part II  will be the other half of the NIPG Quilts and all the other IPS branches.
 

All the quilts will be on exhibition in the Botanic Gardens in Dublin during the month of July.
