Knitting & Stitching Galleries

This past weekend I had the pleasure of invigilating at the Knitting & Stiching show in the RDS and loved our gallery there so much I took quite a few photos!

The traditional gallery was curated by Elizabeth Brennan and featured quilts from Frances Shanahan, Ina Stephens, Assumpta Lydon, Maureen Feary, Ann Marie Horan, Linda McCulkin and Jo Banks.

The modern gallery was curated by Ruth Bourke and featured quilts from Sharon Hughes, Tomomi McElwee, Ethelda Ellis, Erin Case, Imelda O'Grady and Aine Lecky

Our young quilters gallery was curated by Paula Rafferty and featured quilts by Isobel Maher, Cathal Crowe, Isobel Cagney, Ashling Murphy and the class of Mary Ann Brewer.

Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the show including hanging, invigilating and of course the quilt making!

The art quilts gallery was also curated by Paula Rafferty and featured quilts from our Evolution exhibition in addition to quilts by Elizabeth Brennan, Gillian Killick, Lorretta O'Brien and Lois Davies.

The bag gallery was curated by Dearbhla O'Reilly and featured bags by over 30 different makers!

The South Eastern branch volunteered to be the first to take on the branch display and treated us to a  wonderful early Christmas!

It was brilliant to get the chance to see one of the Share Jane quilts designed by Paula Rafferty and we all had fun finding our blocks in there somewhere!  More photos of the quilts exhibited will be added to our exhibition archive on Flickr over the course of the week.

I have to leave you with Valerie Mullaly's block of the month quilt.  I found myself taking lots of photos of this one with so much detail, I could spend hours looking at it finding something new!  Can you spot the owl and the pussycat?  That was my favourite block in the quilt.

A wonderful show - looking forward to next years already!

Exhibitions photos added to our archive!

For those that didn't make it to Limerick this summer to see our National Exhibition the mid-West branch have added photographs to our archive here!
We exhibited just under 50 quilts on the theme of Evolution and also exhibited the EQA exhibition Distance which was a collaboration between Ireland, Latvia and Austria.

Please pop over to our archive and have a look!
