IPS Exhibitions at Knitting & Stitching Show 2017



Reminder to our members that if you have a quilt or bag to exhibit at Knitting & Stitching Show in November to please email ipsknitandstitch@gmail.com with two photos - an overall and a detail and state the category and sizeQuilt or bag should not have been exhibited before at Knitting & Stitching Show.

There are a number of categories to show a varied selection of our work, and selected items will go on display in the RDS from 9th November.

The organiser of each section will make arrangements to receive delivery of selected items, options include branch meetings and our AGM on 7th October.

Aurora Exhibition in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.



Our joint exhibition with the Northern Irish Patchwork Guild - Hands Across the Border, Aurora is now in the Island Arts Centre, Lisburn. The exhibition of 63 quilts hangs until the end of June. For opening times and details, see Aurora Exhibition.

Call for Baby Cot Quilts

The Limerick Quilt Centre have their annual exhibition, River of Dreams in Limerick in the School of Art and Design, Clare Street from the 23rd to the 30th of June. This year baby cot quilts are requested for donation to The Heart Children of Ireland. Quilts be displayed during the exhibition and then donated afterwards.

For anybody interested in making a baby cot quilt, the size is 36"x42" and the hanging sleeve must be placed on the 36" size. For more details see the River of Dreams Facebook page.

Southern Branch exhibition will be running at the Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh from the 2nd of March to the 26th of March.  The opening reception will happen on the 2nd of March with Cork County Mayor, Seamus McGrath in attendance.

Hands across the Border “ Aurora”

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everybody. 

The Society has a very busy year ahead.  We thought it would be helpful to pull the submission dates for our themed exhibitions together so you have them for you diaires!  (Entry forms can be downloaded from the right sidebar on this page.)
  • Hands Across the Border - theme is Aurora due 31st March, maximum 1m square
  • EQA annual challenge for exhibition at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham - theme is Inspired by New York Beauty, also due end of march, 30th March, 25cm x 35cm in Landscape format
  • EQA Diversity in Europe - no theme but showcasing the best example of quilt making, due 30th April, size is minimum 1m x 1m to a maximum of 2.5m x 2.5m
  • Open European Quilt Championships - theme is Illuminate due 31st May. 20" x 40" portrait format
  • Knitting & Stitching Show - open call to IPS members to submit work for exhibition on the following themes: Traditional, Modern, Young Quilters (aged 18 or less), Art and we are exhibiting bags again this year.  Hand in at the September meetings.
Our AGM will be held in Cork this year, Saturday 7th October and the Southern Branch already has an update on their website here, for more details on the hotel: the Kingsley, Victoria Cross, Cork.
